Florida Keys Kayak Tours

If you are ok shape then you might enjoy a kayak trip around the Keys. One of the best groups to use is the Lazy Dog team for Key West kayak trips.   The water in The Florida Keys is very calm most of the time and rarely gets more than a few feet deep.  There are dozens of different types of animals that live in and around the water that you can see up close when quietly slipping across the water.  A kayak tour is well worth your time.  

Key West Train Tour

There is a little train / trolley tour through Key West that is highly promoted.  I usually avoid things like this because they seem a little bit cheesy, but if you want to learn some history and facts about Key West the trolley tour is worth the trip.  As it gets hot this summer this is a good way to see the town without having to hike in the humidity. 

Swim with Dolphins

My wife and I went on a dolphin tour a few years ago.  It was one of those tours where you get out near a pod and try to swim with them.  It was wild to get that close to the dolphins in the water.  They would swim around us and jump next to the boat and do other fun things to let us know that they liked us, but also to let us know they owned the water.  If you decide to go on a dolphin expedition make sure it is one that is environmentally friendly and doesn’t do anything stupid like feed the dolphins. If you love dolphins you should also stop by the
Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key.  It’s not too far from Key West and is well worth the trip.  The scenery on the way up is beautiful too.

Ghost Tours of Key West

Not too long ago my wife and I went on a haunted Key West tour.  If you are going to be in
Key West make sure to include one of these tours in your vacation.  I found it interesting and fun not only because of the great ghost stories (told on location), but also because of the history.  The tours usually start after dark so you have time to see the sunset at Mallory Square and then walk over to the ghost tour starting point.  After the tour the nightlife will be kicking in so you can have a few drinks with friend and talk about the tour.
